Gate Valve

  • PRODUCT DETAIL

A gate valve means the valve like a gate in the piping system for the fluid flow, to be more specific, it looks like a sluice. It is a valve that opens by lifting a barrier/disc/wedge out of the path of the fluid. Gate valves require very little space along the pipe axis and hardly restrict the flow of fluid when the gate is fully opened. The gate faces can be parallel but are most commonly wedge-shaped in order to be able to apply pressure on the sealing surface.

Gate valve is the most popular valve in water supply systems. It represents a closure member linear-motion isolation valve and has a function to stop or start the flow. Gate valves got their name from the closure element sliding into the flow stream to provide shutoff, even it also can show the result of throttling the flow by adjust of the height of the disc, they are not suitable for this purpose.

Gate valves are used to isolate specific areas of the water supply network during maintenance, repair works, new installations, as well as to reroute water flow throughout the pipeline.

The gate valve could be classified as many types based on various parameters, there are several particular types based on the charactersof gate valve:

By the types of Closing Element: Parallel disk Gate Valve, Solid-Wedge Gate Valve, Flexible Wedge Gate Valve, Split Wedge Gate Valve, Double-disc Valves, Bellows Seal Gate Valves.

By the types of Body Bonnet Joint: Screwed Bonnet, Bolted-Bonnet, Welded-Bonnet, Pressure-Seal Bonnet

By the types of Stem movement: Rising Stem or OS & Y Type (Outside Stem and Screw Type) , Non-rising Stem type
